The Annual Conference of the Israel Association of Gastroenterology & Liver Disease

June 25-27, 2024

ICC, Jerusalem

!Thank you very much for your participation
We will be happy to see you at our next conferences

Dear Friends,

This has been a difficult time for us in Israel.  After postponing the Annual Conference, we have decided despite, and perhaps, due to the difficult situation, to move ahead and meet.  This year it will be taking place at the Binyanei HaUma convention center in Jerusalem.

The conference is scheduled for June 25-27. Like our previous conferences, it will be full of interaction and discourse involving our daily lives as practicing gastroenterologists.

Most of the lectures will be in English and we have a number of visiting lectures who specifically wanted to participate in this upcoming conference to show their support.

Your attendance at the meeting will be appreciated greatly

Dr. Ori Segol

Dr. Avigdor Fishman

Graffiti in Nahalaot and the Mahane Yehuda Market Along with Food Tastings

Leaving from the ICC at 16:30
Tour duration appox. two hours

In the heart of Jerusalem, side by side, there are two special and colorful neighborhoods. Nahalaot and Mahane Yehuda Market continue to attract travelers from all over the world.

A market that symbolizes an open and inviting place next to closed neighborhoods. A market that represents the culinary and cultural diversity, alongside the cultural and architectural diversity of Nahalaot.

How did Mahane Yehuda Market become the largest graffiti museum in Israel and the flagship work of street artist Salamon Souza?

Where do the people of Jerusalem buy Halot and Kugel for Shabbat? Where do Jerusalemites drink their coffee on Friday noon? Which foods are fighting for the dubious title of "the food with the most calories per serving"? Who sits in the parliament of the market? These questions and more will be answered in this tour.

We will see, hear, experience and taste the endless variety that these spectacular neighborhoods bring out to their visitors.

Up to 30 participants in group

*Tasting in the Market are not included in the tour and are the responsibility of the participants

Artists of the Mandatory Period in the City Center and Visit to Ticho House

Leaving from the ICC at 17:45
Tour duration appox. two hours

The exhibit “Jerusalem School” presented at the Tower of David and HaMiffal, allows a glimpse at the beginnings of Jerusalem art and its development over the course of more than 100 creative years. Surrounding the exhibit, a number of tours are being offered throughout the city, focusing on art, poetry and the spirited people whose works are featured in the exhibit.

Ticho house is one of the most beautiful and picturesque houses in Jerusalem. The house was built during the 19th century, and was occupied by the Ticho couple – Anna, a painter; and Abraham, one of the most famous eye doctors in the Middle East. Throughout their lives they opened the house to the city’s residents; today it hosts exhibits and displays of the Ticho couple’s personal items.

On the tour, visit the Ticho house, and continue to the streets of the nearby city center. Learn about the art, poetry, and creative people whose works are featured in the exhibit “Jerusalem School.”

Among the places featured on the tour: Bronze doors of the Bikur Cholim Hospital, by Ze’ev Raban; location of Cafe Zichal, the coffeehouse frequented by Leah Goldberg, Else Lasker-Schuler, and others; Music Conservatory on Jaffa St established by Thelma Yellin; bronze doors on the Anglo-Palestine Bank, created by Bezalel artists Meir Gur-Arie and Ze’ev Raban, and others.

"Doctor Next to Doctor" - that's how Natan Alterman, a famous Israeli poet, described Rehavia - Jerusalem's first garden neighborhood

Leaving from the ICC at 17:45
Tour duration appox. two hours

Since its foundation, Rehavia has established itself as an upscale neighborhood of Jerusalem. In this neighborhood lived doctors of medicine opposite doctors of Kabala medicine, writers, ministers, members of the Knesset and even an "Ethiopian emperor". The number of doctors in the neighborhood contributed to its great prestige. In 1936 there were 56 doctors out of 988 residents.

On our tour of the Rehavia neighborhood we will see some of the first houses left in the neighborhood, learn about the famous and special residents of the neighborhood and even see a magnificent 2000-year-old grave of an ancient sailo
